Search Engine Optimisation

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

Once your website has been created you want people to be able to find it.
Make sure your code is compliant using W3C Validation and your meta data has a high relevancy to yoru content and page title.
Search Engines including Google, Yahoo and Bing are the three largest and most used.
They can enter you domain name e.g. mydomain.co.nz if they know it or they will search for either yourself or what you offer in the form of products or services via Search Engines.
Generally most websites will be indexed eventually and to some extent with search engine companies.
To ensure all search engines can read all of the content of your website it needs to meet certain standards and contain not broken links or incorrect code.
To maximise being listed you need to have your website content and code Optimised.

  13. How Long After I Submit My Website To The Search Engines Will It Show In The Search Engine Listings?
(events will vary depending upon several factors.)
    Submit Website
We wlll submit your website to the main Search Engines namely Google, Yahoo, MSN (Bing) manually.
    Week 1
Search Engines will have sent a spider to crawl your domain and website. You can verify if the search engine has visited your website by checking your website awstats in your Cpanel interface, or by typing your domain name into the search engine. If the search engine did not visit your website check back in another week it should have visited by then. In some instaces we have seen clients websites indexed within only day
    Week 2 – 7
The Search Engine’s will have determined there is website content attached to the domain name submitted and the search engine will begin to index your web pages. It will visit each page and index the contents it can read (hence the importance of optimising your website) of your website into the search engine database. Your website pages will be indexed over this time.
This is where you should begin to watch your search engine placement in Search Engine results. Your position will change up and down during this time period, it’s a normal process for the search engines as it is building a full pictur of your website and as people start viewing it.
    Week 8 plus
Your search engine listings will begin to stabilise from week 8 onwards, and you can continue to further optimise and add new content to get the results you want.
How far you want to go is up to you and your budget.

We do not promise that you will ranked number 1 with Google or any other search engine purely because we can’t nor can anyone else so don’t be fooled by false advertising.

At the end of the day Search Engine companies themselves will determine who is ranked where and the only way to ensure you are amongst the top listings consistently is to pay them…commonly known as ‘Sponsored Links’ or ‘Pay-per-click’

This Marketing aspect is just like what you would have to do when advertising with Newspapers, Radio and Television.

We can, however, using strict guidelines optimise your website and its content so that search engines can read all of it and place it appropriately in is listing results.

At the end of the day Search Engines are only as good as the results they provide, so your content needs to be relevant to what people are searching for.

I have decided to put our SEO services on the line with our new website. It was created/optimised and then re-submitted 5th October 2011.

Our initial page ranking with Google will be 0/10. (Please note Google are phasing out the PR system for public use)

As per our guide below watch it rise up the ranks.

We will be running a Google Adwords campaign ($30 for a month) to give it a boost and ensure all pages are being indexed.

We will also update our clients links back to us to our new domain name.

When looking for a Company that provides SEO as a service but their Page Rankings (just one indicator) are only 1 or 2 then dont use them.
They obviously cant get their own website up there so how can they do it for you? They can’t.

Our goal is to get to page ranking with Google 3/10 within 5 weeks, and 4/10 in 8 weeks total.

To achieve this we will be proactive with SEO and marketing.

This way you can see an example of it being done. I will include screenshots of each week so you can see it’s progress.

How many SEO companies are prepared to do this to show you they can do what they say they can do ie value for money? None that we have seen.

Well here we are 5 weeks from when we set the date and look….3/10 as we promised. Not just one page but most pages. but we have more we can improve on.

This has been achieved by good coding standards, keyword selection and density, basic networking of websites and a few more techniques we will keep under our hat.

What next, well as we set out above, 8 weeks and 4-5/10.

We have’t used Google Adword’s at all yet so we have a few aces up our sleeve. Check back in a few weeks time to see out update and see if we can walk the walk.
